I've noticed that I've been slightly MIA from this blog. Whoops. Well, I am going to say it is because I am pregnant with baby #3. The nausea and food aversions this pregnancy have been killing me. I don't want anything healthy to eat, and I've just been craving carbs, carbs and more carbs. (I seriously ate a whole loaf of potato bread last night...after dinner). I don't want to gain A LOT of weight this pregnancy, since I plan on getting right back on the working out hard wagon and getting leaner. Oh well. I'll just do the best I can. It's really sad though, I've already worked out a lot more with this pregnancy than I ever did with Evan and Logan, even though it's a lot less than what I was doing before I got pregnant.
For the first time, I don't think I really care all that much about what the sex of the baby is. I would love a little girl, but I definitely would not mind another little boy either. I just want him or her to be healthy. No ultrasound pic yet. I had to go the ER around 7 1/2 weeks for severe back pain and cramping. Turns out that I had a UTI, which the doc said can cause that. I had an ultrasound there to make sure the baby was okay, and the doctor told me that there was a heartbeat and baby looked good, but I didn't get to see the sweet little tadpole myself. The ultrasound technician had one of the worst bedside manners I've ever seen. "Don't ask to see the baby or any questions. I won't tell you. I report to my supervisor, who sends the pictures to your doctor." I understand, but the way she said it! Next Monday is my first 'official' ultrasound, (I'll be almost 11 weeks).
My energy is starting to come back a little bit more now, and I am beginning to feel a little less nauseated during the day, which is good, since Rick will be leaving for 2 months of training. I really wish that we could go with him to stay in Florida, but we don't have orders yet, so we can't break our lease. Plus, Evan should be starting some early intervention services for his "developmental delays". Whatever. He had a speech and language delay, but they seem to think that he might have a cognitive delay as well. An IEP goal is to put together a four piece puzzle...umm, he's been able to do like, 12 piece puzzles since he was 2! Another one is to point out basic shapes and he can already name them. We're working on colors, but he's doing well with identifying letters also. So, really? It drives me crazy that they think he's behind in EVERYTHING because he has a speech and language delay. And I still feel like most of the issue is his stubbornness. And things we haven't bothered with teaching him ourselves yet.... I don't deny that he needs speech therapy, because the words that he does say are sometimes a little hard to understand.
I feel what he really needs is to be in preschool, so he can learn to socialize better with others. And I have a feeling the more time he spends with kids his own age, the more he'll start talking. Unfortunately, Mississippi is currently ranked #50 in education here in the US, so I'll just have to deal with his getting one-on-one intervention with an adult because the school district here doesn't have a special pre-k. Oh well. At least I know that almost all the areas we're looking at in Ohio have special ed pre-k.
Logan, however talks a ton, at least compared to Evan. He says mommy and daddy, uh-oh, car, go, hi, juice, goof (goofy), binky, and a few others that I really can't remember off the top of my head. He puts his diaper in the trash after I'm done changing him, will grab his binky if I tell him to get it, marches upstairs on his own when I tell him it's bedtime (most of the time), and he brings me a clean diaper after he goes #2. I guess he's uncomfortable. He also LOVES stealing his brother's food, throwing his food on the ground, and throwing huge temper tantrums (already).
Seriously, this kid throws the biggest fits. "Logan, spit that out." Squawks, lays down on the ground and starts wailing. Evan touches him or almost touches him? The same thing happens. Such a little brother, he instigates more than half the time, and poor Evan is always the one to get caught. Logan is sneaky, while I don't think Evan can sneak around quietly if his life depended on it.
Getting ready for our PCS has been a little crazy. After we found out that Rick has a 2 month TDY that we wouldn't be able to join him for, we purchased our first car as a couple. A 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, navy blue with automatic sliding doors. The doors are amazing. The boys love the car, and I love driving it!
We didn't anticipate how much paperwork we were going to have to do before we got orders this time around. Rick blames it on Keesler, but I blame it on the fact that Evan now has an EFMP. I had to get a bunch of paperwork completed. I even had to take Evan to the dentist for the first time. Thankfully, there is a wonderful pediatric dentist who was great with Evan. Apparently, my little guy has an extra front tooth. The dentist called it super something or the other, which is why he has so much crowding in the front. Evan was just super happy to get a bouncy ball and new toothbrush.
There was a little drama getting the dentist to fill out the paperwork. He was in Ocean Springs for our appointment (which I forgot the paper in a rush to get out of the house on time). He told me that he was going to be in Biloxi the next day and would fill it out for me then. I went to the Biloxi office the next day, and the front office people told me that they couldn't do it since his chart is in Ocean Springs, not Biloxi. I asked if they could at least ask him, because he told me that I could come in. They answered by saying, "The first thing he'll ask for is the chart". Of course, I thought of the perfect retort AFTER I had left, which I hate (So you know better than the dentist now?) I left, telling them that this was a complete waste of time.
We went back to Ocean Springs the next day (which is about a 25 minute drive one way, while the Biloxi office is only 5 minutes away). The Ocean Springs people apologized for the other office and told me that the dentist was going to be informed of how rude the other office was. And finally had it all done. Now we meet with the EFMP person to see what else we have to do.
AND, last but not least, about Rick. Rick graduated last Thursday (Finally!) I pinned on his wings (I don't know why computer nerds get wings...) and then I was surprised that Rick won two awards in the class. The first award was top graduate (highest GPA for tests) and the second award was Distinguished Graduate(95% or higher cumulative average). It was a really competitive class, and Rick just barely edged out a guard member in the class. We're really proud of him. And it makes the long days of studying worth it (sort of).
The next time I update might well be when we're moved to Ohio. I don't know if blogging is going to be that much of a priority over the next few months!
