Working it out!

I am very happy to say that I've lost 14 pounds since February!  I am very proud of this number because of packing and moving AND being on vacation for three weeks during that time also.  So, I've been pretty happy.  I've been working out at least 3 days a week, most weeks, and mainly just watching how much I eat and listening to my hunger signals. 

I have been doing the couch to 5k program also, and that helps a lot.  I'm on week 5 now and I am a little nervous for day 3 (Friday), which is when I am supposed to jog 20 minutes straight.  I am sure it will be a slow jog, but I am determined to do it.

I also think that I am going to a Zumba class for the first time on Saturday morning.  And I am trying to cross-train on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well.  Just yesterday, I went to the gym on base (so nice and big) and I did the stair master (I can't even tell you the last time I did that!) and the elliptical machine as well.

I love the feeling of my body changing as I adjust to the training I've been going through.  And I am going to be jogging my first 5K in May.  I honestly don't know how long it's going to take to finish the race, but I am definitely going to try to do it!

Evan has been having a blast exploring our new house with all the boxes and bags everywhere.  He really doesn't even like playing with his toys (Why do we bother buying them then?).  Anyways, I thought I'd post some pictures of all the stuff that Evan is getting into while we're still busy unpacking.

We visited my aunt, uncle and cousin Linsey in Orange County the day before we left.  We also saw Linsey's little boys Liam, Henry and Charlie.  While we were there, Evan had a blast playing in one of the most fun backyards ever!

Rick, Evan, myself, my mom and my brother, Aaron went to Disneyland while we were in California.  The best part about going to Disneyland is that we get in for free (my uncle works there as a firefighter---one of the real ones). 

Evan was all about "It's a Small World".  He was really good for my mom when the rest of us went on the roller coasters. 

I went on the train for the first time, and I actually saw the Grand Canyon/ dinosaurs part.  I've never seen that before!  We also went on Pirates of the Caribbean (Evan fell asleep after the first two drops), Haunted Mansion (Evan was not a fan...completely scared), Pinocchio and Snow White.  Evan was more interested in all the crazy stuff going on.  We ate good food, including the yummy Dole pineapple yogurt float thingy.  We also had mint juleps and ate at the French Market. 

Evan got a big stuffed Pluto for himself.  He LOVES sleeping with lots of puppies, so we bought him a Pluto that he instantly loved.  We didn't stay too long because I wasn't feeling well (heat exhaustion and dehydration?), so we left in the late evening, after rush hour of course.

I love California.  I love good ol' Rancho Cucamonga.  I love that I am about 45 minutes from Knott's Berry Farm, the beach, the mountains, LA and Disneyland when I'm staying with my family.  It's so awesome.  We had a nice, relaxing trip in California.  We didn't do too much.  We just visited with family and friends.  We went to Disneyland.  We went to this wonderfully amazing beautiful fabric store in Orange County that sold wonderful DISCOUNTED fabric.  Seriously, so awesome.  I'll have separate posts for Disneyland and some pictures with the cousins.  But, as my husband is salivating over the computer because it's "his" turn, I'll let him have it.  I mean, he pays for it, right?

We were able to meet up with some of my favorite people ever when we were in Phoenix!  Unfortunately, Rick had to work that day for lunch, but Evan and I were able to meet up at Westgate for lunch with Johnny Rockets with the Lowe family.  Jen was my roommate for about 6 semesters of college, and I've known Aaron (one of the best FHE bros ever!) since my sophomore year.  Needless to say, they are two of my favorite people and they just moved to Ajo, Arizona for Aaron's job.  They came up with their little guy Dax for Jen's doctor's appointment and we had lunch together and chatted.  I loved seeing them again!  Isn't amazing how close you get to the people that you went to college with?  I love this family and I am so looking forward to meeting up with them next time I'm in Arizona.  Maybe then I can go see them in Ajo?  Maybe?

Mountain View Friends

I was able to volunteer at my old school Mountain View to help in some classes.  No joke though, I totally got separation anxiety from Evan.  I guess I'm not made of the stuff I used to be!  By mid morning both days I was worried about my little boy!  Oh well, I was able to meet with a few friends for dinner and we had a lot of fun trying to take pictures of Evan and his good friend Ethan (2 weeks apart).  I sure do miss my old teaching buddies!
