I need to update this, but I really just don't seem to be finding the time right now. There has been a lot going on around here. Including all of us (except Rick) getting sick during the month of March. It hasn't been a great month...
1) Logan's 1 year Dr. Appointment--Apparently Logan isn't even on the growth chart for weight because he's so tiny. And he's in the 3% for height. HA HA! Shorty. Still no walking for him yet, even though he is getting braver about taking a few steps at a time. He's not as fearless as Evan, so he's like a little kid is usually. And the poor little guy had to get antibiotics for an ear infection during that same appointment. Thankfully he was feeling a lot better after that.
2) Speaking of Evan, we have had several doctor's appointments for him. The first was a psychiatric evaluation testing for Autism Spectrum Disorder. Although Evan is speaking and communicating a lot more, he is still very behind his peers in terms of language development. The psychiatrist was reluctant to diagnose him with Mild Autism Spectrum Disorder. He qualifies because of his speech delay and he is "aloof" toward a lot of people, including the doctor we saw. BUT, both Rick and I feel like this doctor did an excellent evaluation, and at the moment, we agree with his assessment. As soon as Evan takes off with talking though, we'll probably get him reevaluated (another thing that the doctor told us to do).
The second doctor appointment was going to see an optometrist. The psychiatrist we saw mentioned that Evan seemed to have a lazy eye. Whoops. We don't know how we missed it, but we made an appointment as soon as we could. We found out that the cute little guy needed some glasses to correct his lazy eye. We should be getting those soon. The last appointment is an evaluation done by the Biloxi Public School District to see if he qualifies for Early Childhood Preschool through the district. We'll be doing that on Friday.
3) I had an appointment earlier in March to get a referral to get my IUD taken out. After I weaned Logan, I noticed that I was crankier than usual, retaining water like crazy, having a bit of pain, and my hair was falling out like crazy (thankfully I have A LOT of hair). The doctor agreed with me when she said that I was still in that small percentage of women who have the sensitivity to as low of hormone dosage that's found in the Mirena.
The second appointment happened when I was eating pudding and then I felt a tooth pop out. Now, it wasn't painful, so I knew that it was my crown from my root canal a few years ago. I was so mad. I only had that sucker for 3 years! And the crown took part of my tooth with it, so I had to get a brand new crown made. The dentist did the temporary crown for me, and now I am just waiting to go back for my permanent crown in a couple of weeks.
4) Auntie Sarah came to visit us (finally, happy news!) She spent Easter weekend with us and the boys were completely smitten with her, like usual. We had a lot of fun. (I'll have separate posts for her visit).
5) Church--Because we were going on and off to church during the month of March due to illness, Evan has been having a rougher time in Sunbeams (meaning there were a couple of Sundays that he just took off out of the primary room). We have to get him used to going again, so we're trying a couple of things out.
6) Working out, studying, trying to save money--I'm in a bind right now in how I am supposed to save money, while feeding my family good, healthy food and losing weight. Now, I just don't have 10 lbs to lose still. I have more like 40. Of course, I'm not going to die if I don't lose them all in the next year. I figure as long as I am changing my eating and exercise habits around, it will stick better than any crash dieting I may be tempted to participate in. There's a fine line between eating well and frugally, and we're still working on trying to figure that one out, especially since I have two little boys who love eating and a husband who loves meat.
And that's about it. It's been a while, but hopefully I can get back to updating this blog a little bit more often, but I really can't make any guarantees.
