Working it out!

I am very happy to say that I've lost 14 pounds since February!  I am very proud of this number because of packing and moving AND being on vacation for three weeks during that time also.  So, I've been pretty happy.  I've been working out at least 3 days a week, most weeks, and mainly just watching how much I eat and listening to my hunger signals.

I have been doing the couch to 5k program also, and that helps a lot.  I'm on week 5 now and I am a little nervous for day 3 (Friday), which is when I am supposed to jog 20 minutes straight.  I am sure it will be a slow jog, but I am determined to do it.

I also think that I am going to a Zumba class for the first time on Saturday morning.  And I am trying to cross-train on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well.  Just yesterday, I went to the gym on base (so nice and big) and I did the stair master (I can't even tell you the last time I did that!) and the elliptical machine as well.

I love the feeling of my body changing as I adjust to the training I've been going through.  And I am going to be jogging my first 5K in May.  I honestly don't know how long it's going to take to finish the race, but I am definitely going to try to do it!

Anyways, that's my fitness update for now!  And here's a good blog to check out for inspiration:   Heavy Duty Mama

  1. OMG, zumba is one of my favorite ways to get a work out. But I have to warn you that not all zumba instructors are created equal. That being said, if your first class sucks, its probably your instructors fault! Go to at least a few different instructors before you decide if you like it or not. I need to get back into running, but I really hate running. I find it tedious and painful. But I suppose being fit is worth the pain? I had to do physical therapy last year, and since I've continued to do the exercise (they were for my back muscles), my arms have gotten nicer. Good luck with your fitness adventure! I wish you the best of luck! And don't give up on zumba too easily. :)

  2. Losing weight is really good Adree, but more important is how good I feel from exercising. I am hoping to make this a life style change so that when I get pregnant/ have more kids I'll find the time to exercise.
