Then there was a fall...

I have been doing really well with jogging lately.  I've been able to run 25 minutes plus (more like jog slowly, but it's still pretty good for me).  Well, today I went out, and I had a really good pace that was faster than usual, but slow enough that I wasn't gasping for breath the entire time.  Well, after about two minutes into it, I fell.  Hard.  On the sidewalk and busted up my left hand, knees, and left ankle.  I'm kind of surprised I didn't fall earlier.  I'm a really clumsy person.  Thankfully, nobody saw me.  I turned around and gimply walked home.  Now, I'm just upset!  I only have 3 weeks until my first 5K that I was going to jog/run the entire way.  At first I thought I just scraped myself up, and then I saw that my right knee had almost doubled in size.  Hopefully, it's just a bad bruise.  But I don't feel like taking chances with my knee, so if it's not better by Tuesday, I'm calling the doctor. Hopefully it will be better in the next week so I can keep training for my 5k.

Happy Easter

With the Easter Bunny on post (base).

and may i add, the creepiest easter bunny ever?

A little confused with what he was supposed to be doing with his basket.

Practicing for the egg hunt.  Love this picture.

Waiting for the Easter egg hunt to start, Daddy had to hold him back.

And he got an egg.

Action shot.

Crawling under the lunch table for the egg

Daddy had to lift him up to get the egg on the table.

Coloring contest.  It was pretty tough competition.

Evan didn't do so well on his!

Easter morning, just woke up.

Excited to find an Easter basket.

More excited about his soccer fan that lights up instead of finding Easter eggs.

He started doing it though.

Distracted by the empty candy jar.

We had to line up the remaining eggs so he would get them!

Putting an egg away!

Finished "finding" the eggs.

Close up of Easter basket.

His egg load (the candy went into the community candy jar.)

Before church.

With daddy in his Easter suit.

Evan, myself and Sarah.

Showing Evan his Easter Bunny cake.

Easter Bunny Cake.  I just realized it looks a little crooked.

Evan's place setting, including the place mat my mom quilted for him.  And you can see the table runner she made me also.

The spread.

Evan eating, mainly enjoying his jello and beef.  It got mixed together, nasty, I know!

He climbed up on the chair and was on the table trying to get to the cake before I got to him.

The pretty cake.

Letting Evan sit in the big boy seat.  (Used two seat cushions!)

He really enjoyed the cake.

This past weekend was exhausting!  That's why I haven't updated as quickly as I wanted to.  It was slow on Saturday morning, besides the fact that I jogged 25 minutes straight for the first time in I don't know how many years.  It was very invigorating.  I can't wait to do it again!  :)  Then we went that afternoon to the Youth Center on base where there was an Easter celebration, including a coloring contest, egg hunt and tons of raffles.  The creepy Easter Bunny monster was also there! Evan had a blast running around, hunting for eggs.  We then took off to a Metro station to pick up my sister Sarah and take her back home with us for the rest of the weekend.  That night, (last minute of course) we decided to boil eggs for deviled eggs for dinner, and we decided it would be more fun if we dyed the eggs.  So we watched a couple of episodes of "Psych", boiled eggs, dyed them, set up Evan's basket, and the next morning, we had a little hunt in our house the next morning, ate a ton of candy, and then went to church.

I love church.  Even though it was Easter, none of the lessons that I attended focused on Easter, but yet I was still able to connect what I learned to the resurrection and the atonement.  I seriously love our church.  I feel so warm and fuzzy, all the time.  I guess what I am trying to say is that, Sunday was another day for us.  Isn't it nice that I feel that way all the time instead of just twice a year?  Just saying.

We went home and got dinner ready (I had a roast and veggies in the slow cooker) and we decorated the bunny cake.  We had dinner, and relaxed the rest of the evening, and it was so nice!  I woke up early on Monday morning to take Sarah to the train station before Rick had to go into work, and then I was so tired for the rest of the day!  It was such a nice weekend with family and I am so thankful for Jesus for everything he had done for us and I love Him.  Hope everyone else had an awesome Easter as well!

Family DC Trip

Evan and his auntie Sarah.

As a part of Rick's in-processing here on post (base) is going to the First Term Airman Center.  He was there for a week when his teacher told them that on Monday they would be able to go to DC on a field trip and families were highly encouraged to attend.  The point of the trip was to teach them how to read maps, use the metro, buy their fare, and generally find their way around DC via public transportation.  We took the MARC train (not a big fan, mainly because of the prices) into Union Station, had lunch and then we took the Metro and walked to the White House.  Then our guide took us to the Washington Monument on the Mall and showed all of us where the monuments were and where the museums were.  Then she told us "have fun and don't get lost" and we split off.

We went to the American History Museum because our friend Travis wanted to see the Pop Culture History exhibit.  I'm okay with American History, so we went there while we waited for my sister Sarah, who was getting off work to meet up with us.  I just love history.  The exhibit we went to was the US Military History exhibit, so it was on all the wars we've had so far.  We took a few pictures,  met up with Sarah, and then walked to the World War II monument.  After that, we hit the Metro, went to Union Station, ate at Johnny Rockets and made a our train (yay!  we were nervous about missing it) back out to Maryland.
In front of the White House.  They wouldn't let us get up close until all the people left.

Giving a cheesy smile for the camera.

Our little family.

Evan in front of some DC comics.

Myself in front of one of my favorite historical paintings.  Doesn't Evan look thrilled?

Right after we took the above picture.  I guess Evan doesn't like history as much as I do!

Evan excited that the tray moves on his stroller.

This will probably be the first of many trips for our family into DC.  Since we live so close, we should probably take advantage of it, right?  And, speaking of taking advantage of being in an awesome area, we're going to be seeing the Barcelona v. Manchester United soccer match in DC in the end of July.  So excited!  Woo-hoo for living in an area that actually has stuff around!
